Further information
Supplementary module on short narration (Prof. Bacchereti). Being a supplementary module of 6 hours, full attendance is mandatory. The precise date of the three lessons will be communicated at the beginning of the Laboratory on the analysis of the text conducted by professor Teresa Spignoli.
Type of Assessment
The qualifying examination will be written. The student will be asked to produce a brief analysis of a poem and of a short prose text.
Course program
The laboratory focuses on the interaction between the theoretical study of modern poetry (prosody, metre, rhetorical figures, structures and verse) and prose (forms and genres of narrative communication, analysis of characters, rhetorical and linguistic tools), and the guided practice in class. Concerns related to translation and inter-media texts will also be briefly introduced. The supplementary module includes brief theoretical introductions on modern short narration, to identify its technical and formal features, modes and genres. Then students will be requested to collectively carry out the analysis of modern Italian and foreign (in translation) short narratives. The material to be used during the practical exercises under the supervision of the teacher will be handed out during the course. The final test includes a written autonomous analysis of a brief poem and a prose text, set up according to current publishing norms.
