Course Content
The course, combining "frontal" lessons and seminars, will focus, according to the modalities described in the "extended program", on the art of the Nineties and 2000s.

Learning Objectives
Development of historical-critical skills, applied to research concerning periods close to recent art criticism. Acquisition and development of a correct research methodology.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of medieval and modern art history, and contemporary history.

Frontal lessons, seminars, meetings with artists and museum curators.

Type of Assessment
Attendance is mandatory, both during frontal and seminar lessons. The exam will be oral and will start from the results acquired in the preparation and presentation of the seminar. The bibliography will be agreed with each group. For those who will not be able to attend the seminars, a specific bibliography will be defined.
Course program
Moving on from the work begun last year the course will continue to combine two didactic lines, a “frontal” one and a seminar one, developing a multi-year research course dedicated to the most recent contemporary art.
Regarding the seminars, students will be able to choose, in agreement with the professor who will lead the formation of specific groups, whether to: deepen the study of a Biennial held in the 90s/2000s in Venice; undertake archive research concerning a coeval exhibition held at the Centro Pecci of Prato; participating in the definition of an exhibition project concerning Renato Guttuso at the Novecento Museum; or even participating in initiatives defined in agreement with Palazzo Strozzi.
The frontal lessons, which are also open to common discussion, on the one hand will go into the passage between the Sixties and Seventies in which the new figure of the curator emerges, and on the other hand will be dedicated to relational art of the Nineties and to the most recent developments from the 2000s, with the aim of introducing the work of some young artists, some of whom the students will meet during the course.
